PreK screenings will be administered in April 2025.
Children that will be four, on or before September 1, 2025 are eligible to attend.
Your child will be screened in six areas. The areas include motor, concepts, language, behavior, self-help, and social.
- Motor includes large and fine motor skills. Your child will be asked to jump, skip, put blocks together, and use a pencil to copy.
- Concepts will include counting, and naming pictures, colors, body parts, and shapes.
- Language will include saying words to see if there are any concerns with speech, and looking at pictures and naming them. There are also tasks relating to letters and sounds.
- Behavior will be screened through observation.
- Self-help and Social consists of a parent questionnaire with questions about your child’s skills in these areas.
- Vision and hearing will also be screened to see if there are any concerns in these areas.
The screening process usually takes 1½ to 2 hours.
