What grade do I have to be in to join band? 

Students in 5^th – 6^th grade are eiligible to join Elementary Band, and students 7^th – 12 ^th grade are eligible to join the HS Band.

However we offer music class to all students Pre-K – 2^nd  grade, as well as music appreciation to 7^th –  12^th grade students.  

Requirements for joining the band? 

Because it is an elective course, Band class must fit in to your daily schedule. You and/or your parents/guardians must talk to our guidance counselor about band class.

How do I get an instrument? 

We will work one-on-one with your student in what is called an “instrument fitting”.  This “fitting” takes into consideration each student’s physical characteristics and coordination, specific skills, AND also the student’s interest and preference to certain instruments – ALL of this helps guide and determine the best instrument choice for your student to succeed in band. Instuments can be checked out free of charge! 

What are the different catagories of band? 

Elementary Band- open to 5^th - 6^th grade students. Students will be taught to read music, and the basics. They will have the oppritunity to participate in a small number of contests throughout the year. 

HS Band- open to students 7^th – 12^th grade, and participate in many contests throughout the school year. 

Jazz Band- for the most expeirenced HS musicians, participate in all competitions, as well as perform at all HOME basketball games.
